Position: Sports & Fitness Expo; Crawlin’ Crab Store
Description: Volunteers for the Crawlin’ Crab Store will be inside Hampton Roads Convention Center to assist with organizing, selling, and ensuring security for the Crawlin’ Crab merchandise, and breaking down and packing up the store.
Time Commitment: Maximum of 5 hours on Friday; maximum of 8 hours on Saturday (day before the race); maximum of 6 hours on Sunday (race day).
Check In Location: Sports & Fitness Expo; Hampton Roads Convention Center
What to Wear: Volunteers will receive a volunteer t-shirt. We encourage you to wear comfortable shoes.
Position: Course Marshals
Description: Course Marshals are assigned to intersections and other critical points on the course to prevent vehicle and pedestrian encroachment during the race. As part of their assignment, course marshals are encouraged to cheer on participants and have fun! Note: Course Marshals must be at least 18 years old.
Time Commitment: Maximum of 6 hours on race day.

What to Wear: Course Marshals are outside for their entire shift and should dress for the existing and forecasted weather. Volunteers will be given volunteer t-shirts. We encourage you to wear comfortable shoes.
Position: Dry Bag
Description: Volunteers are assigned to a location inside or near the Hampton Roads Convention Center where participants drop off bags which contain their post-race clothing. Volunteers collect and sort these bags, and then after the race, re-distribute bags to the participants.
Time Commitment: Maximum of 5 hours on race day.

What to Wear: Dry bag volunteers will be given a volunteer t-shirt. We encourage you to wear comfortable shoes.
Position: Start Line
Description: Volunteers at the start line assist race staff in putting up the start line arch, preparing and securing start corrals, controlling pre-race crowds, and assisting with corral control and movement during the wave start.
Time Commitment: Maximum of 4 hours on race day.

What to Wear: Volunteers for this position will be outside for their entire shift and should dress for the existing and forecasted weather. Volunteers will be given volunteer t-shirts. We encourage you to wear comfortable shoes.
Position: Finish Line
Description: Volunteers at the finish line assist race staff distributing medals, food, water, and other items to finishers.
Time Commitment: Maximum of 5 hours on race day.
Check In Location: Sports & Fitness Expo; Hampton Roads Convention Center
What to Wear: Volunteers for this position will be outside for their entire shift and should dress for the existing and forecasted weather. Volunteers will be given volunteer t-shirts. We encourage you to wear comfortable shoes.
Position: Water Stops
Description: Volunteers for water stops set up tables and cups of fluid before the race, pass out that fluid during the race, then break down and clean up the water stop after the race. Water stop volunteers are also encouraged to cheer on participants as they pass by! Note: Groups must have at least 25 people to man a water stop on their own.
Time Commitment: Maximum of 6 hours on race day.
Check In Location: Volunteers will meet their coordinator at their designated water stop location.
What to Wear: Water stop volunteers are outside for their entire shift and should dress for the existing and forecasted weather. Volunteers will be given a volunteer t-shirt. We encourage you to wear comfortable shoes.
Position: Cheer Squads
Description: Cheer squads are positioned at key locations on the course to provide encouragement, support, and entertainment for participants as they pass.
Time Commitment: Maximum of 6 hours on race day.
Check in Location: Volunteers will meet their group leader at their designated cheer location.
What to Wear: Cheer Squad volunteers are outside for their entire shift and should dress for the existing and forecasted weather. Volunteers will be given a volunteer t-shirt. We encourage you to wear comfortable shoes.
Description: Volunteers for this position will hand out candy to the runners as they pass by the candy stop.
Time Commitment: Maximum of 4.5 hours on race day.
Check In Location: Candy stop location at mile 8.9. Directions and parking instructions to be emailed.
What to Wear: Course Marshals are outside for their entire shift and should dress for the existing and forecasted weather. Volunteers will be given volunteer t-shirts. We encourage you to wear comfortable shoes.
Position: Candy Stop
Description: Volunteers for this position will hand out candy to the runners as they pass by the candy stop.
Time Commitment: Maximum of 4.5 hours on race day.
